The people of Mopamuro LGA of Kogi State have been told to put behind them the sad episode of what happened in the general election and see the present time as a new beginning.

Yomi Awoniyi Kogi State Deputy Governor, at the weekend made the remarks at a meeting geared towards repositioning the party for what he called greater task ahead.

Awoniyi said repositioning the party to be a party of reference and for the progress and development of the area is what he explained should preoccupy the minds of its members, urged them to see the present time as a new dawn and for a new beginning.

Awoniyi described PDP as a party better positioned to chart a way forward for the people of Mopamuro LGA, appealed to the members to think of strategies that would woo more members to their fold as well as to open their doors to accommodate new members all with a view to strengthen the support base of the party in the area.

Awoniyi tasked the members on commitment, sincerity, discipline and commended them for their support during the last general election, said the efforts now should be on repositioning the party for victory in the expected elections in the state.

He said this is not a time for blame game and for apportioning of blames, rather he said it should be a time for the party members to close ranks, re-strategize and to once again take its pride of place.

The Deputy Governor urged PDP members to see the challenge posed by the last election in the area as a humble beginning, said with sincere commitment, putting behind the past, PDP he noted represents the greater interest of people of the area will reclaim its lost ground.

The Deputy Governor urged the people to learn to forgive one another noting that in politics you win some and lose some, assured that with the going back to the drawing board to re-strategize, he is optimistic that the party remains a party to beat in future elections.

Earlier In an opening remarks, Shogo Williams, PDP Chairman, Mopamuro LGA said the meeting was called to appraise the last general election and to chart a way forward for other elections in the state.

The Party Chairman lauded the peaceful conduct of members during the last general election, said the party is still intact to win subsequent elections, and commended the Deputy Governor for his leadership role in the party during the last elections.

Other speakers at the meeting, tasked members on sincerity and forthrightness, disclosing that with commitment on the part of members, the party is better placed to emerge victorious in future elections.

Highlights of the meeting was the empowerment of one thousand persons cutting across all the ten wards of the area by the State Deputy Governor.
