OPENING PRAYER: Father, please provide succour for all the abandoned and lonely on this race.
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The leaders should remind the members on “Sleep As A Gift” as the topic for last week.
MEMORY VERSE: Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed. – 2 Corinthians 4:9 (KJV)
BIBLE TEXT: Isaiah 41:10-14 (KJV)
10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.
12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.
13 For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the Lord, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
LESSON INTRODUCTION: The word abandoned means to be deserted, forsaken, rejected, losing assistance. In this Christian race, many have lost hope, thinking of suicide because people that supposed to bring encouragement to them are the ones condemning them, increasing their wound instead of providing a solution to quicken their healing; they are the ones escalating their sorrow and grief, but thank God that He is the present help in times of abandonment. Hebrews 13:5
LESSON AIM: To make members understand that there is provision for the abandoned even in their period of isolation.
TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should know:
- That you are not alone
- Trials and Travails of Naomi.
Text Review: Isaiah 41:10-14
- No need to fear because there is the victorious hand of God to uphold you.
- All angry enemies will be shattered; anyone opposing you will die.
- You may be despised, but there is a promise of God’s help
LESSON OUTLINE ONE: YOU ARE NOT ALONE
Even when you are facing challenges, persecution in your workplace, ministry, and family, there is a promise of God’s constant presence. Hebrews 13:5. You are not alone because;
a. You have the promise of the Holy Spirit, to give you peace, comfort and protection. John 16
b. You are saved through the precious blood of Christ and you are to enjoy the benefits of salvation.
c. You are a new creature; the old life of abandonment is gone. 2 Corinthians 5:17.
d. You are entitled to greater works. John 14:12.
e. You have the breath of God, so you are divinely possessed and repositioned.
f. Even when you are facing the Red Sea and backing the Egyptians, He is the present help. Exodus 14:12-14.
g. God has promised to recover all your losses. 1 Samuel 30:8,18
LESSON OUTLINE TWO: TRIALS AND TRAVAILS OF NAOMI. RUTH 1-4
i. Naomi was an Israelite who went to Moab with her husband, Elimelech and their two sons, Mahlon & Chilion, due to serious famine in the land of Israel. Ruth 1:1-3
ii. Naomi suffered loss of husband and two sons in the land of Moab.
iii. After some time, Israel got divine attention that wiped out famine, but Naomi was bereaved.
iv. Due to the challenges she suffered, Naomi asked that her name be changed to Marah, meaning bitterness.
v. God used Ruth to heal Naomi’s bitterness while Naomi took great care of Ruth as a mother.
There are positive lessons from the life of Naomi:
a. She was looking out for the interests of those in her care.
b. She appreciated her daughters-in-law for staying with her despite the loss of her two sons.
c. She was a good mother-in-law, giving positive instructions that won her victory and inheritance. (Obed.)
d. At the end of her grief, God blessed Naomi and gave her restoration. Ruth 4:16-17.
SUMMARY: No need to fear, there is the victorious hand of God to uphold you. YOU ARE NOT ABANDONED!
CONCLUSION: Naomi’s story shows us that even if we don’t know how things will end up, we can trust in God’s promises and His constant providence.
