TOPIC: Think About Others (Scroll down for RCCG House Fellowship 13 July 2025 Anthem)
OPENING PRAYER: Father, please give me the grace to be thoughtful about other people’s predicaments in Jesus’ name.
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Centre leaders should reflect carefully on last week’s lesson on why believers need to pray.
MEMORY VERSE: “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:” – Philippians 2:5 (KJV)
BIBLE TEXT: Luke 10:30-35 (KJV)
30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
LESSON INTRODUCTION: Many today find themselves in an unfortunate condition, a tight spot that requires God inspired individual attention, but the majority of these people are disappointed due to the uncaring attitude of so-called desired helpers. In our present situation, there must be careful consideration of the suffering many are passing through, and we as believers need to stretch a hand of help to them.
LESSON AIM: To have an understanding that many need our care, support in this critical time.
LEADER’S OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to;
a) The need to think about others
b) Blessings that come when you think about others.
TEXT REVIEW: Luke 10:30-35
a) In every journey of life, there is a programmed Samaritan.
b) Samaritans (God’s children) must have the trait of compassion for other people.
c) Our response to others determines the result of those afflicted.
d) Abandoning the afflicted may result in a loss to the kingdom’s advancement
LESSON OUTLINE ONE: WHY SHOULD WE THINK ABOUT OTHERS?
1) Many are afflicted and have lost hope.
2) Jesus Christ thinks positively on you every time, to give you peace, good plans, and terminate disaster. Jeremiah 29:11
3) Many are facing challenging situations, loss of job/career, financial embargo.
4) Some people’s future is being challenged and prone to be aborted.
5) Some are being deprived, stripped of their right and entitlement, for example, long long-awaited promotion.
- When there are difficulties, think of your nations, e.g. four lepers in 2 Kings 7,
- When one of your immediate family members is abandoned and lonely, think of him/her and help. E.g. Mordecai brought Esther to assist her.
- When your surplus comes, think of your business partner. E.g. Peter assisted the frustrated sons of Zebedee when his breakthrough came. Luke 5:7,10
- When you receive the light of salvation, think of your family in the darkness of sin. John 1:41-42
LESSON OUTLINE TWO: BENEFITS OF THINKING ABOUT OTHERS
(a) Those you help today can be your saviour tomorrow, remember Esther and Mordecai.
(b) You will be greatly remembered and rewarded. Esther 6:1-10
(c) You will increase joy and happiness, terminating sorrow and agony. 2 Kings 4:1-7
(d) You are populating God’s kingdom. John 1:42.
(e) You are reducing the rate of depression and suicide.
(f) You are empowering others to succeed
Think about others in:
- Prayers for peace and prosperity. Psalm 122:6, Isaiah 62:1
- Their need and assist them. 2 Kings 4:8-11, Genesis 18:1-8
- Making sure they are not condemned and damned. John 8:10
- Lowly state, fragile situation
CONCLUSION: Fix your thoughts on what is true and honourable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise, fix your mind on them.
SUMMARY: Think like Mordecai, who enrolled his niece for a vacant position in king Ahasuerus’s palace.
Weekly Activity: Visit someone this week, try to assist and fix area he/she require help.
