MEMORY VERSE: Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. – Leviticus 18:22 (KJV)

BIBLE PASSAGE: Romans 1:21, 26-28 (KJV)

Romans 1:21
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Romans 1:26-28
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

INTRODUCTION: The rise in visibility and acceptance of homoséxuality and same-séx relationships, particularly in many Western cultures, has led to significant cultural and social shifts. Homoséxuals and lesbians, having gained momentum, often advocate for their rights and acceptance based on principles such as tolerance, equality, justice and love. They seek social, political, and cultural recognition and aim to be seen as neither abnormal nor dangerous. Their message is widely promoted through media outlets like TV, radio, magazines, fashion, music, and movies. In addressing this issue from a biblical perspective, it is essential to understand what the Bible says about homoséxuality and same-séx relationships.

LESSON OUTLINES

  1. HOMOSÉXUALITY EXPLAINED
  2. WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS

1. HOMOSÉXUALITY EXPLAINED

A. The word “homoséxual” is from the Greek word arsenokoites.
i. Simply put, homoséxuality is a relationship that involves having séxual intercourse with people of the same séx (Leviticus 18:22).
ii. It is referred to as ‘lesbianism’ among the female gender.
iii. Homoséxuality is not natural.
iv. A look at the male and female bodies reveals that they are designed to couple. The natural design is apparent.
v. It is not natural to couple a male with a male and a female with a female.
vi. Homosexual desires, which may feel natural, are unnatural (Romans 1:26-27).

B. Pro-homoséxuals and the homoséxual community are subtly and consistently pressurising the larger society to accept and recognise their ‘séxual orientation’ as normal (Romans 1:21b).
i. They want legal protection for having intercourse with people of the same séx.
ii. They also want their views taught in schools, promoted over the airwaves, and codified in literatures.
iii. The homoséxual community also attempts to use political power to control the church.

C. The attempt in trying to redefine love, marriage and sex, to suit the justification for and acceptance of homoséxuality by those trying to promote it, cannot suppress the truth that it is an ungodly practice, and Christians must not be caught in this web of sin.

CLASS ACTIVITY 1
Identify other arguments promoted by pro-homoséxuals to convince the world for acceptance.

2. WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS

The Bible has much to say about homoséxuality.

i. The first time an experience of homoséxuality came up in the scriptures is in Genesis 19:4-5 where the men of Sodom encompassed the house of Lot demanding that Lot release his male visitors to them that they may have carnal knowledge of them.
ii. It is an abomination unto God for men to have séxual intercourse with a fellow man (Lev. 20:13).
iii. In the Law of Moses, cults of this act are to be stoned to death (Lev. 20:13).
iv. The Bible also declared that homoséxuals who refuse to repent will be let alone by God and they will be given reprobate minds to continue in their sins (Romans 1:26-28).
v. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 emphatically declares that homoséxuals along with other sinners shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

CLASS ACTIVITY 2
What does “receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due” in Romans 1:27 mean?

CONCLUSION
God created woman for man, not man for man, or woman for woman (Genesis 2:20-25).

CLOSING PRAYER
Dear Father, deliver your church from the spirit of séxual perversion.

ASSIGNMENT
State five (5) gender terms promoted by homoséxuals against God’s original plan (2×5=10 Marks)
