Memorise: Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 2 Peter 1:10

Bible Reading: Acts 2:40-43

  1. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
  2. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
  3. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
  4. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

Bible Reading In One Year: Isaiah 56-58; 1 Thessalonians 3:1-13

MESSAGE

Every child of God has his unique potentials. However, it is your duty to discover yours. Believe me, you need to activate the potentials in you in order to fulfil God’s purpose for your life. For instance, Peter was a fisherman, but after the encounter at the lake of Genesaret, where he had a net-breaking catch, Jesus told him to follow Him so that he could make Him a fisher of men. Paul is also another example. After studying law, and being a master of it, when he had an encounter with Jesus on his way to Damascus, he started using his convincing skill to convince sinners to be converted to Christ.

It is unfortunate that some believers pray and fast for what they already have. If you don’t use your potentials, you might lose it. Remember the parable of talents. The servant who got one talent and didn’t use it lost it to the one who had five and used it. You need to look inwards today and think of the potentials God has given you. Then start using them. If you can sing, don’t just sing to yourself in the bathroom, join the choir and serve God with your gifts. It is the only way to grow.

Key Point:

Potential not used will die a natural death, yet you will give account of it when you get to heaven.

Hymn: I’m Pressing On The Upward Way

  1. I’m pressing on the upward way,
    New heights I’m gaining every day;
    Still praying as I onward bound,
    “Lord, plant my feet on higher ground”.

Chorus
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith on heaven’s table-land;
Where love and joy and light abound,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

  1. My heart has no desire to stay,
    Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
    Though some may dwell where these
    abound, my constant aim is higher ground.
  2. Beyond the mist I fain would rise,
    To rest beneath unclouded skies,
    Above earth’s turmoil peace is found
    By those who dwell on higher ground.
  3. I long to scale the utmost height,
    Though rough the way, and hard the fight,
    My song while climbing shall resound
    Lord lead me on to higher ground.
  4. Lord lead me up the mountain side,
    I dare not climb without my Guide;
    And Heaven gained, I’ll gaze around,
    With grateful heart from higher ground.
