Topic: Salvation through Christ [Open Heavens for Teens 10 May 2019]

Memorise: “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” – Matthew 1:21

Read: John 1:11-12

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Bible In One Year: 1 Kings 21-22, John 3:1-21

MESSAGE:

A common mistake made by many is to blame others for their misfortunes. Some blame the devil, their parents, teachers or even their friends. But do you know that you can be your own worst enemy? Way back in the Garden of Eden, everything was in order until Adam and Eve sinned. When God visited them and began to ask questions, they laid a bad precedent which many still follow today; blaming someone else for their wrongdoing. No one can force you into doing anything wrong, even if you are pressured, it all boils down to your decision to partake of what you are being pressured to do.

No matter how tempting sin is, with Christ, you have the power to resist it. This is the beauty of Salvation. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says that with every temptation, God provides a way of escape and you cannot be tempted beyond what you can bear. Dear child, do not allow the devil to lie to you that you are too weak to resist a temptation. In Christ, you have immeasurable power that even the devil cannot withstand. When that temptation to sin comes, draw on the power and say a resounding ‘NO’.

Key Point:

If you do not stand up and make use of the authority you have in Christ, you will always be bullied by the devil and his agents.

Hymn 15:

1 Wonderful story of love;
Tell it to me again;
Wonderful story of love;
Wake the immortal strain!
Angels with rapture announce it,
Shepherds with wonder receive it;
Sinner, 0 won’t you believe It?
Wonderful story of love.

Chorus:
Wonderful! Wonderful!
Wonderful, Wonderful story of love.

2 Wonderful story of love,
Though you are far away;
Wonderful story of love;
Still He doth call today;
Calling from Calvary’s mountain,
Down from the crystal bright fountain,
E’en from the dawn of creation,
Wonderful story of love.

3 Wonderful story of love:
Jesus provides a rest;
Wonderful story of love;
For all the pure and blest,
Rest in those mansions above us,
With those who’ve gone on before us,
Singing the rapturous chorus,
Wonderful story of Love.
