TOPIC: Envy, A Cause Of Bitterness (Seeds Of Destiny 19 December 2023)
SCRIPTURE: Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ? For he knew that for envy they had delivered him. Matthew 27:17-18.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: People will be bitter against you, and probably move to offend you if they are envious and jealous of you.
Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2023 MESSAGE:
It has been established that bitterness is a trap Satan sets for Christians to make them miss out in destiny and ultimately, in eternity with God in heaven. Satan sponsors bitterness and offences in people’s lives to attack their spirituality and abort their destinies. But that will never be your portion, in Jesus’ Name.
Now, it is very important to know the root or source of bitterness so we can guide ourselves properly.

One root of bitterness is, Resentment from envy and jealousy.
People will be bitter against you, and probably move to offend you if they are envious and jealous of you. And also, if you are envious and jealous of someone, you may act in ways that would offend them if you are not controlled by the Holy Spirit.
One reason for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ by the Jews was envy. The scribes and Pharisees felt that Jesus Christ who did not go through their theological training (because He was not a Rabi) suddenly began to shine and overshadow them. They were annoyed because Jesus was getting more crowd than them.
Matthew 27:17-18 says,
Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ? For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.
The miracles, signs, and wonders Jesus performed, the crowd that followed Him pained the Pharisees, and so out of envy, they delivered Him to be crucified.
So, people can become envious of you if they are intimidated by your exploits in life. You must know this so you don’t fall into the trap of people’s envy and jealousy.
REMEMBER THIS: People will be bitter against you, and probably move to offend you if they are envious and jealous of you.
ASSIGNMENTS:
- Avoid falling into the temptation of envying people because of their achievements in life.
- Always thank God for the help He has granted to the people around you. Thank God for their success as you work towards, and trust God for yours.
PRAYER: Lord, I ask for the grace not to be jealous or envious of people because of their achievements. Thank You Lord for what You have done for the people around me. I receive what is mine from Your Hands, Lord in Jesus Name.
