SCRIPTURE: Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men. – Proverbs 22:29
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Work is a God-ordained necessity for a productive and meaningful life.
Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2026 MESSAGE
God did not create man to be idle; He created him to work, to produce, to make a difference, and to contribute to the world around him. From the beginning, work was part of God’s design for man.
Genesis 2:15 says, And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
The question then is, why is work necessary?
- Work is the number one demand of life
After God created man, He sent him straight to work, that is, to dress it and keep the garden (Genesis 1:28).
There is no way to produce fruit without planting a seed. Genesis 2:15 also says that God put man in the Garden of Eden “to dress it and to keep it.”
Without meaningful work, life begins to degenerate. No wonder, Ecclesiastes 10:18 says, By much slothfulness the building decayeth, and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.
Work is a capital demand of life. Idleness or indolence is more tiring than diligence. If you must continue to live, then you must continue to work.
- Work attracts the rain and blessing of heaven
Genesis 2:5 says that God had not caused it to rain upon the earth because “there was not a man to till the ground.”
Deuteronomy 28:8 says, The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto.
God will never allow the rain to fall on ground that is not being tilled. The blessing of the Lord is looking for the work of man’s hands.
- Work offers the opportunity to release potential, make contributions, and create positive change.
Work is your opportunity to fly. It is like bringing the eagle out of the cage to soar or putting the fish into the ocean to swim.
Joseph demonstrated this in Genesis 40:6–8. Although he was in prison and had every right to keep to himself, he decided to work—the work of releasing his gift of encouragement. When he saw two men who were troubled because of their dreams, he released his potential to make a difference in their lives and change their countenance. That contribution eventually led him to the palace.
Beloved, work is a necessity of life. Give yourself to meaningful work. Engage your potential, wisdom, skill, and learning. Do not merely consume a salary; make a difference, provide solutions, create change, and offer your contribution. Find your work and face it squarely.
REMEMBER THIS: Work is a God-ordained necessity for productive and meaningful living.

- Identify the work and responsibilities God has placed in your hands and give yourself to them diligently.
- Determine to make a difference through your work and contribution.
PRAYER: Father, thank You for the gift and opportunity to work. Deliver me from laziness and help me to become a channel of blessing to others, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
