TOPIC: The Wrong Reasons For Living (Seeds Of Destiny 27 November 2021)
Living by conviction is superior to living by consensus.
SCRIPTURE: And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. Luke 12:15.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Living by conviction is superior to living by consensus.
In our world today, many people live for the wrong reasons. They do not care to find out what life is all about and so, they decide to live anyhow.

In our study today, we shall examine two wrong reasons people live for.
- Survival (Matt. 6:25-32)
Many people in our world today live for survival. This is when people only try to make a living. Survival is their sole aim for life. Living for survival is the lowest level of life. It is almost like animal existence where the birds, for example are looking for what to eat and where to perch. A person living for survival sleeps and wakes up pursuing what to eat, wear, drink, and drive. The survival mode is the worst form of existence.
- Society (Exodus 23:2).
There are also people who live for society. They take their bearing from society. These people don’t have a mind of their own. They don’t know what they want except they see what other people do. They are people of no personal conviction. They are driven by consensus. They have no personal opinion. Whatever they see people in society do is what they also do.
People who live for society are people who don’t really know where they are going in life. They don’t know where they are headed for.
Beloved, if you don’t know where you are going in life, you won’t like where you will end. And to be under the control of the crowd is to be lost in the crowd. What is popular may not necessarily be proper. Living by conviction is superior to living by the consensus.
Remember this: Living by conviction is superior to living by the consensus.
ASSIGNMENTS:
- Refuse to live for either survival or society.
- Avoid the bandwagon effect; live by conviction.
PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to live by conviction. I refuse to live for survival or society, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
