SCRIPTURE: And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days. – 1 Kings 3:14
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your way in is your way forward.
Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2026 MESSAGE
God spoke this promise directly to Solomon in a dream: if he would walk in God’s ways, keep His statutes and commandments, as his father David did, God would lengthen his days. But Solomon did not walk as his father walked; he did not keep the covenant of his fathers in the later part of his life.
This same challenge confronted King Uzziah; he was moved by pride to his own destruction.
And Samson had his own covenant to keep; he was not to drink any fermented drink, and his hair was not to be cut. Samson trampled on it. He went up in strength and simply forgot the covenant that had set him apart in the first place.
What were the things you were doing in the days prior to this time that brought you results? What kind of fasting and prayer brought you out of where you once were? What kind of study of the Word, what kind of relationship with God, carried you into the place you now occupy? Your way in is your way forward. If you got in, in a certain way, that same way is how you stay in, and how you keep going.
My wife, who has lived with me and known me longer than anyone else, can testify that my discipline of fasting and prayer, if anything, is more intense now than it was over thirty years ago. That consistency, that refusal to abandon the very disciplines that brought the breakthrough in the first place, is what has sustained the journey. Whatever door God used to bring you in, that same door should be kept open through the same commitment; that is what will keep you moving forward.
Beloved, Solomon, Uzziah, and Samson each had a covenant that carried them into greatness. Each one of them paid dearly the day they treated that covenant as optional. Whatever brought you to where you are today – your prayer life, your fasting, your study of the Word, your walk with God, etc.; do not set it aside once the results begin to arrive. The very covenant that opened the door is the covenant that will keep you standing in it.
REMEMBER THIS: Your way in is your way forward.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
- Identify the spiritual disciplines that brought you into your current place of grace and examine whether you still practice them.
- Recommit to the fasting, prayer, and study of the Word that once carried you through.
- Refuse to treat any covenant with God as optional once success or comfort arrives.
PRAYER: Father, forgive me for every covenant I have neglected along the way. Help me to walk in Your ways as consistently now as I did when I first sought You. Let my way in remain my way forward, Lord in Jesus’ Name.
