TOPIC: Healing For The Wounded Soldier
OPENING PRAYER: Father, please heal all your children who have been wounded in the fight. Heal all broken hearted, bind up their wounds. (Scroll down for RCCG Sunday School 14 June 2020 HYMN)

BIBLE PASSAGE: Job 1:13-22 KJV (RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual 14 June 2020)
13 And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:
14 And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:
15 And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
16 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
17 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
18 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:
19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,
21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
INTRODUCTION:
A wounded soldier can be described as a Christian who has been a victim of unfavourable circumstances of life, trails of faith or satanic attacks, sometimes, as a result of carelessness, sin or unexplainable factors, leaving such Christian with a wounded spirit.
Sometimes, a wounded spirit comes to a result of a reaction to negative words, event, action or a violation of one’s person or rights. It generates a reactions that crushes one, knocks one down, from which one cannot seem to rise. Hence, such a Christian needs divine healing in order to stand and fight on, as a soldier of Christ.
TEXT REVIEW: JOB 1:13-22
“And the Sabean’s fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee”. Job 1:15.
The above quoted Bible passage was the first “big-bang” that fell upon Job’s oxen and asses. His servant too were not spared in the Sabeans’ devastating raid. Job 1:14-15.
LESSON OUTLINES
LESSON OUTLINE 1: SOME BIBLICAL INSTANCES OF WOUNDED SOLDIERS
STEPS:
i. Teacher should call for five names to be volunteers (Male/Female)
ii. Teacher should give names to the volunteers as follows:
Job, Samson, Elijah, Peter, Judas Iscariot
iii. Teacher should give the following passages to the volunteers and ask them to read and illustrate, or enact how the characters they are representing were wounded.
- Mr/Mrs Job. Job 1;13-22.
- Mr/Mrs Samson. Judges 16:18-21.
- Mr/Mrs Elijah. 1Kings 19:2-4.
- Mr/Mrs Peter. Luke 22:54-62.
- Mr/Mrs Judas Iscariot Matthew. 27:3-5.
NOTE 1: If the characters are described, one person will be needed for each of the characters. If they are to be enacted, more than one person will be required to enact each role.
NOTE 2: Teacher should make corrections where necessary.
Participants/Contributors to score 10 marks each.
LESSON OUTLINE 2: WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE WOUNDED
i. Trace the source of the wound and be courageous to face the pain. Deal with the root of the wound, not just the symptoms. Job 2:7; Luke 4:5-8.
ii. Stand your ground and be ready to engage in spiritual warfare by putting on the whole armour of God. Ephesians 6:10-11
iii. Repent in areas where sin has caused the damage and make up your mind to live holy. Proverb 28:13; James 5:16.
iv. Shun unbelief or doubt. Believe that Jesus really wants and desires to heal you and cry unto Him. James 1:6; Psalm 50:15; Jeremiah 8:22.
v. Avoid negative people and abusive relationships. 1 Corinthians 15:33; 2 Corinthians 6:14.
vi. Avoid impulsive decisions, take comfort and strength in God’s word. 1 Kings 19:4; 2 Kings 2:23-24; 2 Kings 6:25-29.
vii. Forgive any human agent you can trace as the cause of the wound, forgive yourself also and be ready to let go. Job 42:10; Ephesians 4:32.
viii. Afterward, watch against further attacks 1 Peter 5:8.
CLASS ACTIVITY: How do we know that we have fellowship with God?
SUMMARY:
Right from the Bible time to our days, believers had been and would continue to be wounded for several causes but there is always hope for the wounded.
CONCLUSION:
There is still ‘balm in Gilead’ for the wounded soul (Jeremiah 8:22). God is the greatest physician. Call on Him today, believe His word and act your faith now.
EVALUATION:
Give some examples of soldiers who were wounded and some divine treatments to their wounds as indicated in today’s lesson.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Father, let all manners of wounds be healed now in Jesus’ name.
ASSIGNMENT:
Give reasons true believers of Christ are wounded in the battle front.
