MESSAGE:

Every member of the family has his or her responsibilities in the home. As a teenager, you also have responsibilities in the home. One of the ways you can help out in your home is by taking care of your younger ones. When you take this responsibility seriously, it is one less thing for your parents to be worried about.

First, you must make sure that your younger ones have access to speak with you anytime they want. Don’t be that big brother/sister who does not relate with them. When your younger ones are comfortable around you, they can tell you things that they may be too afraid to tell your parents.

Constantly ask your younger ones what they are up to in school, seek to know who their friends are. Help with their school work; push them to do better than they are doing. Correct them when they are wrong, pray with them when they have problems. Make sure you constantly watch out for their general wellbeing.

The good thing about taking care of your younger ones is that you will unconsciously want to make sure that you are a good example for them to follow, thereby becoming a more responsible person.

Prayer Point: Father, please give me the wisdom to properly take care of my younger ones, and while I do so, make me a good role model for them to follow in Jesus’ name.

Hymn 13:

1 Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is the love of God flowing through you?
Are you telling the lost of the Savior?
Are you ready His service to do?

Chorus:
Make me a channel of blessing today,
Make me a channel of blessing, I pray;
My life possessing, my service blessing,
Make me a channel of blessing today.

2 Is your life a channel of blessing?
Are you burdened for those that are lost?
Have you urged upon those who are straying
The Savior who does on the cross

3 Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is it a daily telling for Him?
Have you spoken the word of salvation?
To those who are dying in sin?

4 We cannot be channels of blessing
If our lives are not free from sin;
We will barriers be and a hindrance
To those we are trying to win.
