Teens’ Open Heavens 23 January 2018 by Pastor Adeboye - A Smooth Stone?

Topic: A Smooth Stone? [Teens’ Open Heavens Tuesday 23rd, January 2018]

Memorise: Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. – Isaiah 28:16

Read: 1 Peter 2:4-8 (KJV)

4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

Bible In One Year: Exodus 4-6, Matthew 16

MESSAGE:

God is interested in every aspect of your life, including your dressing because it can either make or mar His plan for you. How polished are you to fit into His eternal plan for your life? Do you wear clothes that make you look like the people of the world? When confronted about the clothes you wear, do you say it doesn’t matter? You cannot look like the world and expect to be close to God, neither can you be friendly with the world and also friendly with God.

Are you involved in any questionable habit that cannot be uttered in public? You cannot be a smooth stone in the hands of God until you do away with anything questionable in your life. Yes, you can be a stone – an ordinary one, but if you want to be smooth stone that God can use to do great things in His kingdom, then you must allow God to polish you, and make you a tried stone like Jesus Christ.

Key Point: If God considers you His favorite, you will mind what you do, say, where you go and how you dress

Hymn 7:

1. I am Thine 0 Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.

Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!

4. There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
