Memorise: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; – 1 Thessalonians 4:4

Read: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-4

1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

MESSAGE:

An apprentice is someone who is attached to his master, the person who likes the trade of his master and who would want to become like his master. The apprentice that will eventually become a master himself must have a high thirst for knowledge. He must be ready to ask questions on areas he is not clear about. He must have a probing mind and be ready to learn. If you think you already know enough, God has nothing else to teach you.

If you cannot keep God Company and tarry in His presence, you cannot be an apprentice under Him. Today, there many apprentices who handle their period of training with levity. The aftermath is that they become half-baked masters, and God cannot use half-baked believers. The extent to which God will use you is dependent on the extent to which you are baked, taught and schooled under tutelage through His Word.

Key Point: How much time do you spend communing with God?

Hymn 7

1. I am Thine 0 Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.

Chorus
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!

4. There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
