Open Heavens for Teens

Topic: People Are Watching [Teens Open Heavens 13, May 2018]

Memorise: For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither anything hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.Luke 8:17

Read: Exodus 2:12-14 (KJV)

12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.

13 And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?

14 And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.

Bible In One Year: 2 Kings 6-8, John 4:31-54

MESSAGE:

Many times we do things and assume that nobody takes note of what we do. This is very wrong. When Moses killed the Egyptian in Exodus 2:12, he realised that people are always watching.

The amazing thing about people is that they remember what they see or hear about other people. Do you know that what you do today may be judged several years later when you go for a job interview somewhere? Be very conscious of your actions in secret and in the open because that could be what will give someone a lasting impression about you. Sometimes, the impression you give people about yourself even reflects in the way they treat your family members or anyone they may meet that bears the same surname as you. My advice to you is to be well behaved now as a teenager, let your teachers, neighbours, colleagues and friends know you to be a good child, later in the future, you will surely reap good benefits from it. I got my PhD through a man who had taught me before. He saw me after a failed PhD interview and told me to come do my PhD with him because he knew me to be a studious and well behaved boy.

Key Point: Nothing is hidden under the sun.

Hymn 2:

1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4.But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
