Memorise: The same came for the witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. John 1:7

Read: John 1:6-8 (KJV)

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

Bible In One Year: Esther 4-6, Acts 5:17-42

MESSAGE:

Acts 1:8, Jesus says you shall be a witness for Him. What does it mean to be a witness? In the secular, when there is a case involving two or more people and it is taken to a court of law, both parties would be expected to invite witnesses who would make statements in favour of the person who invited them. The testimony of the witness is expected to strengthen the argument of the one who invited him as a witness.

Every follower of Christ has been called to be a witness of the Lord. John the Baptist was sent as a witness of Jesus Christ so that all men through him might believe in Jesus. You have been saved so that you might be a witness of Jesus by telling others what He did for you, how He saved you from sin and that He can do the same and much more for them. A witness who refuses to testify in court is obviously an enemy of the one he is to witness for. Are you His witness? Tell someone about Jesus today!

Action Point: As a witness of Jesus Christ, lead a soul to Christ today and then pray for that soul to be established.

Hymn 15:

1. Wonderful story of love;
Tell it to me again;
Wonderful story of love;
Wake the immortal strain!
Angels with rapture announce it,
Shepherds with wonder receive it;
Sinner, 0h, won’t you believe It?
Wonderful story of love.

Chorus:
Wonderful! Wonderful!
Wonderful, Wonderful story of love.

2. Wonderful story of love,
Though you are far away;
Wonderful story of love;
Still He doth call today;
Calling from Calvary’s mountain,
Down from the crystal-bright fountain,
E’en from the dawn of creation,
Wonderful story of love.

3. Wonderful story of love:
Jesus provides a rest;
Wonderful story of love;
For all the pure and blest,
Rest in those mansions above us,
With those who’ve gone on before us,
Singing the rapturous chorus,
Wonderful story of Love.
