Joshua 1:7 Read: Joshua 1:5-9 5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. 7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Bible In One Year: Joshua 9-10, Luke 3 MESSAGE: As a child of God, there are certain assignments that you will be given that might make you afraid. Yet, God wants you to have courage because He will help you. When God told Joshua he was going to succeed Moses, he was struck with fear. “How can a messenger become the leader of a nation when there are elders and other leaders there? How will the Israelites see it? What if they decide to rebel against me as they did to Moses? Moses was trained in the best university in Egypt and was prepared for the ministry for several years faced so many challenges; how can I succeed with so little preparation?’ all these and more must have crossed Joshua’s mind. Joshua obviously had many unanswered questions. The task was frightening. How could he step into the shoes of Moses? How do you feel when you are asked to lead a group or represent the school at a competition? When you face a very bad and hopeless case, it may cause fear. Yet God wants you to be courageous. Why? You are not alone. He is right there with you. He will give you the recipe for success in that given task. Trust Him. Yes, you can do all things by His grace and power. Key Point: You may not see or know what to do with that assignment, but God knows and He will teach you if you ask Him. Now hear me while I pray, Take all my guilt away, Oh, let me from this day Be wholly Thine! 2. May Thy rich grace impart Strength to my fainting heart, My zeal inspire! As Thou hast died for me, Oh, may my love to Thee Pure, warm and changeless be A living fire! 3. While life’s dark maze I tread, And griefs around me spread, Be Thou my guide; Bid darkness turn to day, Wipe sorrow’s tears away, Nor let me ever stray From Thee aside. 4. When ends life’s transient dream, When death’s cold sullen stream Shall o’er me roll; Blest Saviour, then, in love, Fear and distrust remove; Oh, bear me safe above, A ransomed soul!
