Open Heavens for Teens

Topic: God’s Temple [Teens’ Open Heavens 31st, March 2018]

Memorise: If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. 1 Corinthians 3:17

Read: 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (KJV)

14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Bible In One Year: Joshua 3-5, Luke 7:31-50

MESSAGE:

A temple is a place where God lives. If you have accepted God into your heart, you automatically have become His temple. It is a great thing to be God’s temple, evil forces become scared of you, you become a no go area for kidnappers, you will be under divine protection, failure will be far from you and because God lives in you, everything around you will be subject to your command.

As many as the benefit of being God’s temple are, they come with responsibilities. Because God hates sin, you must keep away from sin; because God is hard working, you must also work hard. Remember that if you are a temple of God, it means that God lives in you and through you. Hence, you cannot be found watching dirty videos on your phone, you cannot be found in a place that only sinners are found. You cannot be disobedient to higher authority. The truth is, when you are God’s temple, you become a representative of God, so you must only do the things that God can do and avoid the things that God does not like.

Key Point: God cannot dwell in a temple that is dirty and full of sin, meaning that such a temple is exposed to the attacks of the enemy.

Hymn 7:

1. I am Thine 0 Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.

Chorus
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!

4. There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
