Memorise: Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: James 1:19

Read: Proverbs 17:28 (KJV)

Bible In One Year: Psalm 73-74, Romans 5

MESSAGE:

Have you ever wondered why you have two ears and one mouth? The truth is; our God knows which one we need more than the other. It is better to listen and digest a message before you speak. If you see a man that is quiet, and you see another man that is lousy, you automatically respect the quiet man more than the lousy man, this is because it is obvious that the quiet man thinks things through before he speaks, while the lousy man speaks before he thinks. Those who listen before they speak have less tendencies of making mistakes, so if you want to reduce your rate of making mistakes, make it a habit to listen more than you speak.

Speaking before thinking has put a lot of people in trouble, as they easily divulge sensitive information to their enemies before they realise it. Whereas, listening gives you the ability to get as much information as possible with which you can make better decisions. Listen more and speak less.

Key Point: The ability to listen more than you speak will make you wise. Wise people hear much and say little!

Hymn 2:

1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey, for there¡¯s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4.But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we¡¯ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
