Teens’ Open Heavens 19 November 2017 by Pastor Adeboye - Trusting The Arm Of Flesh?

Topic: Trusting The Arm Of Flesh? [Sunday 19, November 2017]

Memorise: “Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.”Zechariah 4:7

Read: 2 Chronicles 32:1-8

1 After these things, and the establishment thereof, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself.

2 And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,

3 He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were without the city: and they did help him.

4 So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?

5 Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised it up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo in the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance.

6 And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying,

7 Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:

8 With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

Bible In One Year: Acts 16-17. Hymn: Sing Hymn 11 — Standing On The Promises Of Christ

MESSAGE:

There is nothing you want to become in life that you cannot be, when you leave your life in the hands of God. There is nothing you want to achieve in life that you cannot achieve through the help of God.

You can live in peace when you know that God is by your side no matter what happens. This is why I pity those who put their trust in the arm of flesh.

When you trust in the riches and connections of your parents, you are trusting in the arm of flesh. When you rely on the promise of your influential uncle or aunty, you are trusting in flesh. All these people can disappoint you because the Bible says that riches have wings and can fly away at any time. Kings can be dethroned and elections can displace formerly influential people. Trust only in God because He alone is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Key Point: When Jesus is your root, you can never be uprooted by the devil.

Sing Hymn 11: Standing On The Promises Of Christ

1 Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Chorus
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

2 Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God. ~ Refrain

3 Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God. ~ Refrain

4 Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God. ~ Refrain

5 Standing on the promises I shall not fall,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call.
Resting in my Savior as my All in all,
Standing on the promises of God. ~ Refrain
