Since the days of Adam and Eve, giving excuses has been a part of the fallen nature of man. We try to justify actions even when they’re wrong. We shift blame to other people or things. We tell the story of some people that have caused our downfall. I have made up my mind to grow beyond the fallen nature of man that always rejoice in giving excuses and justification for doing wrong. I have concluded in my heart that if I fail to make it in life, nobody is responsible, my immediate community is not responsible, the society is not responsible for my choice, lack of help is not responsible, poverty is not responsible, neither is the devil responsible for my fall, but MYSELF. How? Because whatever a man faces in life, two options are available, right or wrong, power to accept or to resist either of the two. Whichever one you choose is your choice, whether right or wrong. You can always resist choosing the wrong by accepting or embracing the right. Don’t blame poverty for choosing to engage in prostitution, armed robbery, cheating, fraud etc. No wrongdoing is justifiable no matter how genuine it seems.
For instance, Jesus has come and paid for the sins of the world. He has come as the light of the world but many still prefer darkness because of their evil works. He has purchased for the world eternity through His precious blood but men still prefer to die in their sins and go to hell. We all have the power to either accept or resist. The choice is yours!
