TOPIC: THE WAY INTO SPIRITUAL POWER (IV)
ANCHORED SCRIPTURES: MARK 9:14-29

The MESSAGE:
From our scripture we read, the scene was that a multitude had surrounded the disciples and was questioning them, and the disciples seemed helpless. When Jesus asked, He got to know that His disciples could not cast out the evil spirit from that little boy. When the spirit saw Jesus, He threw the boy down. Jesus asked this question “how long has this been happening?” because of the people who were standing by, because He already knew the answer.
I am praying for somebody here: every “since he was a child” problem, I bury them now, in the name of Jesus! (A tenfold amen).
And I decree upon somebody here: any problem that has followed anyone here, in the name that is above every other name, Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, I bury them now, in the name of Jesus.
This text shows you what we are saying, that the devil is wickedly wicked and badly bad. He has no mercy for a child, no mercy for a baby. The disciples of Jesus had been casting out other demons before but they now encountered another one stronger than those ones. They were puzzled because they had had successes. They now came against this one who resisted them. Then Jesus told His disciples that prayer and fasting was needed for the case of that dumb spirit.
Meaning some problems will not bow, some demons will not go, some situations will not change, except you fast and pray. And herein lies a key to power that Jesus is talking about here. In this passage, we see the result of spiritual powerlessness.
We see embarrassment, frustration, disgrace. The result for the sufferer was helplessness, disappointment and unhappiness. To heaven, an embarrassment. As you are here, there may be those whose deliverance is attached to you. Maybe in your family or place of work.
If they die in their problems and their deliverance is attached to you and because of your powerlessness they died, what explanation are you going to give to heaven? Will you say you did not read your Bible that says “and it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.”? Will you want to say you did not get access to that spirit?
The Bible says “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:” What exactly would you want to say? The result for the sufferer was helplessness and disappointment. The result for the saviour himself was disappointment and people around would think they are fake; whereas it is not so. There was only one problem: powerlessness.
SAY: I will not be a disgrace to heaven, by the power in the blood of Jesus!
So having the power of God in our lives is our birthright as Christians because as I have been telling you for weeks, where there is power; there is no struggle. You cannot survive without that power in this generation we have found ourselves in. These days people get attacked in the dream and land in the hospital. People face occultic people who speak into their lives and their lives become rubbish and nonsense. Beloveth, the world has become a wicked arena. The Bible says “the whole world lieth in wickedness.” We need power to confront that wickedness.
These days I am afraid to say; if you fail to carry some spiritual power, you are dead. They will just eat up the person or steal what they should not steal from you. The tragedy that is bothering my heart is that Christians are being wasted everyday by the powers they are supposed to waste. It is in school they give you the lesson before the test, but in life unfortunately, it is the test before the lesson. And some will learn the easy way while others will learn the hard way.
May we not learn the hard way, in the name of Jesus.
So you need that power now. Blame is a lame defense for powerlessness. Powerlessness makes you a slave. They say give unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, but if you hand over to Caesar what belongs to you, Caesar would keep it.
I am praying for somebody here that by the time you leave this place today, you will be a carrier of fire, a carrier of power.
They will be able to say “we know Jesus, and we know you.” You have recognition both on earth, in heaven and in hell fire. I wonder how many men and women the devil can run away from. The reason is this: there is an enemy within us, killing our power. That enemy within, we need to deal with so that the power of God can have easy flow into our lives. The powers binding your faith, prayer life, fasting life, that turn fasting to a terror to so many people, are the enemies.

This internal enemy binds our mouths, de-anoints us, reduces our spiritual fire, blocks our deliverance, ensures we are limited, will always encourage counter attacks to stop you from praying the prayers you are praying, will always dissolve good dreams and bringing bad ones just to discourage you so that you will not pray the way you should pray, provides a landing place for the aircraft of darkness. What is that enemy that is occupying the space so that the power of God cannot come in? It is anything in our lives that heaven is against.
And as far as we harbour that enemy within by putting a goat, or serpent or crocodile inside to occupy the rooms of our lives and we are now shouting for the Holy Spirit to come in, Holy Spirit will say “yes I want to take control, but please can you first remove all the strangers in your house?” The Bible says “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” But the reason many are not able to open that door is because there is a stranger within.
Lay your hands on your chest and shout this loud and clear:
Idols in my heart, die in the name of Jesus.
Anything in my life, chasing heavens away, come out now, in the name of Jesus.
When you want to access the power of God, the first key is:
Key 1: New birth. Bible salvation. The Bible says “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” A lot of people coming to church are not born again. What they do, you will know they never encountered Christ. This is the greatest problem of the Almighty in granting power to His people. Only a scanty number of people are born again. Some go to church because they are pursued by enemies, some go because they want miracles, some go because they want miracles, which is okay.
But the stand of the scriptures is this: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” We have abandoned that one and we are chasing the “all other things”. It is a concern to heaven. We shout “Give me power! Anointing fall on me..” God says “yes I am ready to give you the anointing but the anointing can only fall on the lamb, not a goat. You are still a goat. Remove your horns. Become a lamb and then the anointing will fall on you”.
The Bible says “And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.” “This is the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” The dove will fall on the lamb, not on the goat. There are many goats in the house of God. They have not found Christ. That is why they can be committing fornication, telling lies, gossip, taking what does not belong to them, moving around with people’s spouses, drink and smoke; they have never encountered Christ.
You see, if this foundation is not sorted out, there is nowhere God wants to deposit that power. To give you that power is like giving a six year old a pistol. It is too much power for a child.
So in case you are here and you are not born again, you only call yourself born again because:
- you have been coming to church for years,
- you were given a Christian name at your birth,
- you were baptized on the 8th day in your church,
- you eat communion. No, you need a living experience with Jesus Christ. Once that foundation is okay, it is easy. Why do you think after the disciples of Jesus walked with Him for 3 years, He could not just gather them and say “all of you, receive power”? He said “No! Tarry ye in Jerusalem”. They needed to be purged. They needed. So that time in the upper room of waiting for the Holy Ghost to come down was their time of preparation, purging them, preparing them to receive the power. And when that power came, Jerusalem knew that there was problem.
If all of us here should receive the fire and power, this country will know that there is problem because we will begin to turn everywhere upside down for Jesus. I am praying there will be somebody here who will say “I am divinely dissatisfied. I want power to make an impact in my generation”.
Key 2: You need a divine encounter. You need to cry out for a divine encounter. All the men and women who were useful for God in scriptures had a divine encounter.
Key 3: Violent faith. Jesus accused those people of faithlessness.
Key 4: Prayer and fasting.
Key 5: The Word of God which is what we have been trying to let people understand.
PRAYER POINTS

- (Lift up your two hands) Power from on high, overshadow my life, in the name of Jesus.
- Wherever I go, darkness must disappear, in the name of Jesus.

Holy Ghost Fire, overshadow my life in the name of Jesus Christ.
