Topic: Thirst and Hunger after Him [04/01/2017]
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. – Matthew 5:6. Read: Ps 63:1-3
Naturally, when a man is hungry, he will get up and go get something (food) to satisfy his hunger the same way he quenches his thirst whenever he is thirsty. The level of hunger will equal the amount of food such a person will consume. Some as a result of the hunger, they consume food like demented dog or drink water gasping for breath. Now, an hungry man does not wait for food to come on its own neither does he wait for someone to feed him when he is not handicap, he goes for the food and feeds himself.
There are two kinds of food: Spiritual and Physical food. The physical food is to nourish the body while the Spiritual is for the soul of a man. Both are important but one is more important than the other. The physical body no matter how nourished it is would perish one day but the Spiritual (soul) lives forever. Physical thirst and hunger will always need our attention but more important is to be eternally thirsty and seek to quench it through seeking the only One that created the soul and knows it needs and how to quench it thirst and hunger. If men can hunger and thirst after righteousness same way they run helter-skelter to satisfy their physical hunger, they shall be filled. Moses sought after God and God showed him his glory. Dare to hunger and thirst after God?
