Topic: Hold Unto The Promise [TREM Devotional 16 March 2019]

“Let us therefore fear, lest a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it”. – Hebrews 4:1 KJV

What you should fear is not what the devil is doing or what he brings against you to make you doubt what has happened in your life. You should rather fear that you may likely take a step that could jeopardize your inheriting the promise that God has already made. You should be concerned about how to position yourself in such a way that nothing negative comes out of you. A promise has already been made and God has already moved. But occasion may arise to make you doubt the promise and consequently fail to experience it.

The book of Hebrews 3:14 says “For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end.” In other words, whatever God has done in your life; you have a responsibility to hold on to it till the end, no matter what is coming against you. No matter the seeming impossibilities, challenges and circumstances around you, never let go of the promise. You have to stand your ground. Regardless of what the enemies bring at you, know that God has moved in your life. If you don’t learn how to deal with the devil’s counter attack, it is so easy to let go of your conviction and thereby lose what God has already done.

The scripture says ‘you are made partakers’. The word “partakers” refers to those who, irrespective of what the enemy may bring against them; will say ‘I am standing with God. I am going to listen to what God has said and not what the devil is saying.’ It says, consider the High Priest of your confession:Jesus. In other words, take a cue from Him. Hebrews 4 verse 11 says “Let us labour therefore..” In other words, ensure that in every given moment, no matter how the enemy tries to present a negative report to you, just focus on the promise. Focus on the answer that you believe you had already received.
