“By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” Romans 5:2 (KJV)

We thank God for the cross of Jesus Christ that gave us access into the presence of God and has made all things available to us. The Bible tells us that through death, Jesus Christ destroyed he who has the power of death and delivered all those who through death, have been subject to bondage throughout their lifetime. So, when Jesus died, the scripture says that the veil of the temple was rent from top to bottom giving us access into the presence of God. Now, we have a bill of Rights. That is what righteousness is all about. The Bible says He who knew no sin, became sin that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5: 21).

We were made righteous because of the death of Jesus Christ. So, we have the right to enter into the presence of God. There is therefore now, no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). The Bible says in Hebrews 4:16, let us, therefore, come boldly to the throne of grace. We are not afraid to enter because the price is fully paid. When Jesus said it is finished, it is an announcement to Satan and his cohorts that he has no right to hold any of God’s people in bondage any longer. We have been discharged and acquitted, the case is closed and there is no appeal.

The journey begins at the cross. The cross is a place of a shameful death (Philippians 2:8). The cross is the place where you die to self. The cross is the place where we lay down our sins. The cross is the place where an exchange was made. We were meant to die. We were doomed for destruction but Jesus made an exchange. Yes, He exchanged my life for His own life.

Today as we celebrate His death, take time to meditate on this great access and thank God for the cross.
