“I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.” – John 10:30-31 (KJV)

We have always known God as God, as our El-Shaddai: the Almighty, the Possessor of heaven and earth, Jehovah Elohim: God the Creator, Jehovah Jireh: our great Provider, Jehovah Rapha: our Great Physician, Jehovah Shalom: our Peace. Jehovah Nissi: our Victorious Banner. Jehovah Shammah: Ever-Present One. These are different wonderful names of God and they are all good. But when Jesus came, He revealed Him to us as Abba Father. And that borders on intimacy with God. But oftentimes, we say that name and do not understand the full weight and the import of it.

One of the things you will always notice in the ministry of Jesus Christ is that He always called God, Father. He always used the word: Father. And that was offensive to the religious minds. The Pharisees were upset with him and wondered why Jesus would call God, Father? To them, God is Yahweh. When they want to call God, they stand in fear before they open their mouth. But thank God for Jesus! Now we can call Him, Abba Father because we have a relationship with God.

Everything written in the Bible is for our benefit. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All scripture is given by the inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (KJV).

Most of the things we often ignore in the scriptures are powerful revelations that God intends that His children should use to navigate through the challenges of life and put the devil where he belongs. Some of the things we suffer are as a result of ignorance because Jesus already did it all for us. The knowledge of God as your Father must become a personal revelation to you.
