Topic: Don’t Take Permanent Decision Because Of Temporary Problems [TREM Devotional Friday June 22, 2018]

“Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem Judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons” Ruth 1:1

The land of Israel experienced a major famine in the days of Elimelech, the husband of Naomi and to solve the challenge of famine, he went down to Moab. For him, this looked like a perfect solution to get away from the famine in the land. Looking at it today, we can safely say that he used his commonsense to solve a spiritual challenge and the result is that he lost his life and that of his two sons.

Beloved, the devil has nothing good in store for you. When you are faced with challenges, don’t go to the world for solution. Don’t use your sixth sense when it is contrary to the Word of God. What Elimelech did is like going to the world for solutions. Before you blame him, have you not been there? You are faced with financial challenge and rather than wait on God for an answer, you chose to cut a fast deal and you justify it by saying “heaven helps those who help themselves”. Is that not like what Elimelech did? Beloved, stand with God. Don’t bend the rules, don’t compromise. Let God be God in your life.

Elimelech left the land of bread (Bethlehem Judah) and went to Moab (the land of incest) and the result was a loss of all he was trying to protect. He took a permanent decision to solve a temporary problem. The challenge you are facing is temporary. It will soon be over. Hold on, stand your ground. Hold on to the Word of God and God will show up for you.
