TOPIC: Change What You Call Yourself (TREM Devotional 29 January 2022)
“Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.” Genesis 17:5 (KJV)
Notice that when God made the promise to Abraham that He was going to bless him and his children will be in all nations of the world, Abraham had no child. Abraham had come to the night of his life and it looked like nothing will happen. I want you to notice what happened. It will help you to always plug into what God has spoken concerning you. Each time God spoke to Abraham, He kept reassuring him that His words will come to pass. He said to Abraham: “I am more than sufficient. I am El Shaddai! I am He who picks and sets aside natural laws. My Word can never fail “
Child of God, I encourage you to be consistent. Stop vacillating! Stop straddling the fence. Stand on what God has spoken to you!
Stand on His promises! They can never fail! If God had said it, He will do it. If He had spoken it, He will bring it to pass. For God is not a man that He should lie nor the son of man that He should repent.
In the book of Genesis chapter 17, God came to Abraham to reassure him that what He had said will come to pass. “As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.” Genesis 17:4 (KJV). And I want to say to everyone that is reading this daily devotional; whatever God has said to you will come to pass. No matter what, it will definitely and certainly come to pass. I want you, therefore, to stand in faith and believe. Know that God can never lie.
To fully assure Abraham, God changed his name from Abram to Abraham. By this God is teaching you how to change your situations. It is not just enough for you to know about His promise, but it is also good for you to change your language. Change what you call yourself! What do you call yourself when the situation does not look like it!
The book of Proverbs 18:21 states it clearly. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
