Topic: Always Get Involved In Kingdom Matters (TREM Devotional 6 February 2021)

“And they brought him to Jesus, and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.” Luke 19:35 (KJV)

When Jesus was going to ride into Jerusalem, He asked his disciples to go find a colt and tell the owner that the Lord had need of it. When they brought the donkey to Jesus, they cast their garments upon it. Everyone got involved. Luke 19:37, says: “And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen” (KJV).

In Matthew’s gospel of this same story, it tells us that the whole city was moved. Those who could bring palm fronds did so. Those who could spread their garments did so and those who could sing, raised their voices. The people get involved in one way or the other and then when they came into the city, the whole city was moved.

While in Luke 19:38-39, some were saying: “blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. Some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto Him, Master, rebuke thy disciples” (KJV), the Pharisees habitually discourage the rest. Whenever God’s people gather together to praise God, there will always be Pharisees who usually want to limit the rest of the multitude from rejoicing. The Pharisees told Jesus to stop the disciples but Jesus said unto them: “…I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out” (Luke 19:40 KJV).

There are stones waiting on the wing to do what you don’t want to do because from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same, the name of the Lord shall be praised; there is nothing anyone can do about it. The scripture tells us that the Lord will build His church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
