The death of Alh. Muhammed Yakubu, the People’s Democratic Party chieftain in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State has been described as a great loss to the State.

Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada stated this in a message to the 8th day/fidau prayer of the party chieftain, held in Okpo.

The Governor who was represented at the prayer by the Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, described late Alh. Yakubu as an illustrious son of the State, whose contribution to the development of the State cannot be over-stressed.

Capt Wada described late Alh. Yakubu as a man, who lived a useful life, said he was a shining example in the field of politics.

The Governor urged the people of Olamaboro to take solace in the fact that late Alh. Yakubu lived a life of service that was acknowledged all over the State.

Capt Wada condoled the family, the late party leader left behind, urged them to remain resolute in the pursuit of good ideals as a way of nurturing and strengthening his legacies.

Capt Wada prayed for the soul of the late party leaders to rest in Aljanah Firdausi, disclosing that he will be greatly missed having left a wide vacuum difficult to fill.

Also speaking, Alh. Ibrahim Idris, the former Governor of the State, described late Alh. Yakubu Muhammed as one of those who introduced him into politics, said he was a man who was forthright and a worthy political confident and strategist.

Alh. Ibrahim Idris described his death as a loss to Igala nation and Nigeria in general, prayed God to grant his soul rest and the family he left behind the fortitude to bear the sad loss.

Late Alh. Muhammed Yakubu, fondly called Ukpoduakpa died at the age of 71 years, was at various times party Chairman of NPN, GNPP, SDP, CNC and PDP in Olamaboro Local Government Area, is survived by his wives, children, grandchildren and relatives.

The 8th day fidau prayers attracted party supporters and well wisher from across the State, who all eulogized the sterling qualities of the late politician, disclosed that they will greatly miss his invaluable contribution to Olamaboro LGA.

Highlights of the event were the prayers for the reposed of the soul of the deceased party leader, led by the Chief Iman of Okpo Central Mosque, Alh. Yahaya Mohammed and recitation of Holy Qur’an.
