University of Eldoret in Eldoret town, Uasin gishu County, Kenya, has been closed indefinitely following yesterday’s student protests over alleged corruption in the institution.

Uasin Gishu Senator Isaac Melly, who was among the demonstrators, was injured after the protests turned chaotic.

The students and elders engaged the anti-riot police in running battles.

The MCAs and the elders accused the University of employing people from outside the region ignoring qualified personnel from the County.

They want the Vice Chancellor Prof. Teresia Akeng’a out of the university.
