Topic: Unveiling Your Purpose [Open Heavens for Teens 28 April 2019]

Memorise: “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” – 1 John 3:9

Read: 1 John 2:20, 27-29

20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

Bible In One Year: 2 Samuel 19-20, Luke 21:20-38

MESSAGE:

In Judges 13:25, we are told that the Spirit of God began to move in Samson in the camp of Dan. When the anointing of God comes upon you, before long, the purpose for which God created you will become evident.

You were created for greatness. You are not ordinary. You were designed to succeed. This is so for every child of God. Unfortunately, many Christians live their lives without realising their purpose on earth. This is because they are yet to receive the anointing. When the anointing comes upon you, you will suddenly realise your purpose on earth and begin to pursue it.

To get the anointing, you need to be friends with the One who anoints. Acts 10:38 says “and God anointed Jesus of Nazareth”. To be close to Him, you need to study His word (The Bible) often and always d His will. However, when you realise you purpose, you must ensure that you don’t also take it for granted like Samson did. It could be harmful for you if you fail to fulfill that purpose God gave you.

Key Point: Begin to ask god to daily fill you with His Spirit

Hymn 6:

  1. Our God, our help in ages past,
    Our hope for years to come,
    Our shelter from the stormy blast,
    And our eternal home:
  2. Under the shadow of your throne
    Your saints have dwelt secure;
    Sufficient is your arm alone,
    And our defense is sure
  3. Before the hills in order stood
    Or earth received its frame,
    From everlasting you are God,
    To endless years the same.
  4. A thousand ages in your sight
    Are like an evening gone
    Short as the watch that ends the night
    Before the rising sun.
  5. Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
    Soon bears us all away;
    We fly forgotten, as a dream
    Does at the opening day.
  6. Our God, our help in ages past,
    Our hope for years to come,
    Still be our guard while troubles last,
    And our eternal home!
