A 21-year-old woman has opened about her harrowing ordeal after she gave birth at the age of 12 after she was raped by her own brother.
Tressa Middleton gave up her baby and this led her to spiral into a world of drink and drugs at an incredibly young age.
After years of being in care because of her mother being homeless she was sent back to live with her family at 11. Her brother Jason, then 16, was sent back too.
It was then that he attacked her. At first, Tressa didn’t realise she was pregnant and she was strongly against abortion.
She kept the identity of her baby’s father a secret until she gave birth, and then she confided in a friend after breaking down while drunk.
After the arrival of the baby, Annie, Tressa found it difficult to cope and became hooked on alcohol and drugs.
Annie was later taken into care and put up for adoption.
‘I hope she understands. I’ll leave it up to her but I hope she does forgive me,’ she said of her young daughter.
Jason has since been jailed for the attack after DNA tests proved he was the father.
