TOPIC: Walking In The Spirit

READ: Galatians 5:16-18 King James Version (NKJV)

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

THE MESSAGE:

As children of God, we are called to walk in the Spirit. What does it mean to walk in the Spirit? Walking in the Spirit implies allowing the Holy Spirit to determine your destination; it is a continuous walk with Him and total dependence on Him.

You have to allow the Holy Spirit to pattern your life as to please God. It is this walking/living in the Spirit that truly enables you to overcome the domineering power of the flesh.

How then can you walk in the Spirit? It is to know who you are in Christ. This knowledge comes through the Holy Spirit. For the Spirit bears witness with your spirit that you are a child of God.

You have to starve your flesh by thinking and meditating on the things of the kingdom of God. You have to deliberately avoid strife and walk in harmony with others. You have to examine yourself daily and know your weaknesses and depend on the Holy Spirit to overcome.

Finally, you must pray and listen to the Holy Spirit and never forget that He is your reliable and dependable paraclete (your advocate and helper).

PRAYER: Dear God and Father, enable me to walk effectively in the Holy Spirit, for in Him lies my total victory in this world in Jesus Name!
