Memorise: “You are the salt of the earth. But suppose the salt loses its saltiness. How can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything. It will be thrown out. People will walk all over it”. Matthew 5:13

BIBLE READING: Matthew 5:13-16 (NIRV)

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But suppose the salt loses its saltiness. How can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything. It will be thrown out. People will walk all over it.

14 “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill can’t be hidden.

15 Also, people do not light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand. Then it gives light to everyone in the house.

16 “In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

Bible Reading In One Year: Jeremiah 23-24; 2 Timothy 2:1-26

MESSAGE:

God has chosen you to positively influence your generation. And God is happy when you are able to carry out this task effectively. Also, your ability to show many the path of righteousness makes God pleased with His choice. And when God is happy with any of His children, He’s always quick to make a public declaration to the world. This He did to Job (Job 1:8), He also did it to Jesus (Matthew 3:17 ). Unfortunately, God cannot openly boast of some of His children because they have lost their savour.

Today’s reading compares the believer with salt and light. As salt, you are to sweeten your generation. You are to add taste to the life of anyone that comes in contact with you because without you, their lives would be bitter. You can add taste to the lives of people by being peaceful, living a godly life and telling people about Jesus.

As salt, your family should prosper. Potiphar’s house prospered because Joseph, a slave and true salt was in the house. How many lives have you salted?

Key Point:

Father, please give me the grace to positively influence everyone I come in contact with.

Hymn: Is Your Life A Channel Of Blessing?

  1. Is your life a channel of blessing?
    Is the love of God flowing through you?
    Are you telling the lost of the Savior?
    Are you ready His service to do?

Chorus:
Make me a channel of blessing today,
Make me a channel of blessing, I pray;
My life possessing, my service blessing,
Make me a channel of blessing today.

  1. Is your life a channel of blessing?
    Are you burdened for those that are lost?
    Have you urged upon those who are straying
    The Savior who does on the cross
  2. Is your life a channel of blessing?
    Is it a daily telling for Him?
    Have you spoken the word of salvation?
    To those who are dying in sin?
  3. We cannot be channels of blessing
    If our lives are not free from sin;
    We will barriers be and a hindrance
    To those we are trying to win.
