A Promise For You From Bible Promises:

Topic: What Profit Is It To Serve The Lord?

For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God. Job 34:9

Whether in sorrow or in excitement, one must be very careful of his/her action or utterance because, ‘By your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned’. Matt 12:37. It’s very dangerous to speak rash words in confusion or take hasting decision (s), instead, pray and seek counsel. Decision in confused state has led many to destruction. Up til now, many children or families are benefiting from rash words spoken by their parents years ago, while some lived to regret their rash action yesterday. Jabez lived with pain of his mother’s rash word during his birth, until he prayed unto God before he was set freed. 2 Chro. 4:9-10. King Herod also made a rash decision in his excitement when the daughter of the herodias excited him with her danced steps. I want the head of John the Baptist she requested, which left Herod in despair. Mark 6:21-28

In the mist of pain and sorrow, Job uttered the above statement that, ‘What profit is it to delight in the Lord’ he was immediately rebuked by Elihu his friend that the profits are countless. Serving God gives you an edge over your enemies, it gives you peace like a river. It cause God to bless your water and bread and also take away sicknesses from you. Beloved, the most attractive and lucrative business to venture into is the service of the Lord. It pays to serve Him heartily.

* Only hearty service unto God brings His benefits, not eye service unto man
