Topic: Age Is No Barrier [6/7/2016]
Text: Joshua 14:1-15
Most times, people tend to set barriers or limitations for either themselves or others by placing a cap on what they can do because of their age. But one thing that the Lord has taught me is that, age is not a factor where He is concerned. As long as we rely on God’s strength, there is nothing we can’t do despite our age. As longs as we are ready and available, we are good enough to achieve God’s purpose.
Caleb was already 85 years old, but he said to Joshua in Joshua 14:11: “as yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.” Looking at Caleb from his time as a spy with Joshua, you will know he was a man full of faith, that trusted and relied on God completely. He drew his strength and ability from God. This he demonstrated when he said to Joshua: “now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day…if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said” (Joshua 14:12).
You are not too old or too young to carry out God’s agenda for your life. You might have discovered purpose when you are maybe in your 60s or 70s and think you can’t do much. Listen to God’s counsel for you: “those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing” (Psalm 92:13-14). This is beautiful. Even in old age you will flourish and be fruitful. Wow! Don’t allow age to be a barrier to you. Keep being productive until you draw your last breath on this earth. Don’t ever retire from being fruitful.

Prayer:
Age is not a limitation to my productivity. I am neither too young or old to be a useful and valuable asset to God. I will keep on being productive every single day of my life, because the Lord is my strength. I will flourish and bear fruits, even in old age, in Jesus name. Amen.
