Topic: The Churches: Ephesus [16/3/2016]
Text: Revelation 2:1-7
Revelation 2 and 3 paint interesting pictures of the church of old and today. They show some characteristics that are prevalent in the church of old and today. The church here is in reference to the whole body of Christ, although we can also allude these characteristics to various congregations individually.
For the church in Ephesus they were very zealous and religious, they were so much into activities for God. They scrutinized everyone that came to their assembly to make sure they are of God. They hated what God hates. While these are good, they were definitely headed for destruction because they left the real thing undone, that is fellowship with God, their first love.
God is more interested in a walk with Him (fellowship) than a work for Him. God seeks fellowship, a partnership with us. Pay attention to that. Make sure you are not one that only work for God but do not walk with God. If you are one, you need to repent and go back to your first love.
Be wise and seek fellowship with God and keep winning daily.
Prayer:
Father Lord, I thank You for fellowship with You which You have come to establish with me. I make a commitment today to stick with You, my first love, in loving fellowship forever to enjoy the best life which You have given me, in Jesus name. Amen.
