Topic: The Churches: Smyrna. [17/3/2016]
Text: Revelation 2:8-11
The church is Smyrna is an interesting church. This is a church with mixed multitude. They do not have the eagle eyes of the church of Ephesus. They allowed all sort of things from the world to infiltrate them. They are the kind of Church that wants to be friends with God and also friends with the world. They have forgotten that it is impossible, because you cannot serve two masters, it is either you love one or hate the other (Matthew 6:24).
Scriptures says in 1 John 2:15 “love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” Most people claim to be Christians, but there fruits are satanic. They are of the synagogue of Satan (Revelation 2:8). They don’t know that it is the fruit you produce that will determine what tree you are. And sadly we still have people like this in our churches today. We need to get them to accept Jesus Christ, because their sins have been paid for.
This is where sound doctrine comes into place. In our various congregations, we must point people to Jesus, the Saviour of the world. We must endeavor to bring them into the knowledge of the truth. We must intensify our effort to get them to turn from Satan and unto God. For the Lord knows them that are His, and let everyone who nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity (2 Tim. 2:19).
Turn to the Lord and keep winning daily.
Prayer:
Dear Father, we pray for the church today and everyone in it that have not come to the knowledge of the truth of Jesus Christ, that the light of Your glorious Gospel shine on then, turning them away from darkness into your marvelous light, in Jesus name. Amen.
