Topic: Communication [Sunday, 12th Feb. 2017]

But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. (Acts 6:4)

Communication is the process of passing information between two or more persons. Communication is not a one party activity, at least two parties must be involved. Where one party talks, and the other listens only, they cannot be said to have communicated. There must be a feedback for the process of communication to be complete.

So also is communication with God. It’s at least a two-way line. But most of us have reduced it to a one-way thing. We either talk without listening, or listen without talking.

Talking here refers to prayer. Most of us pray and pray without receiving answers. We know by scriptures, that God answers all prayers (Job 22:27), that is, He speaks back to us. Why then do we not get our answers? It’s simply because we mostly don’t wait to hear Him speaks to us. And we hear from Him through the study of the Word. Even when He speaks through a person or through our spirits, He confirms it with His Word.

Then again, some of us don’t have our needs met because we don’t pray. James 4:2 says, “…ye have not, because ye ask not”. Prayer and the study of the Word go hand in glove. You can’t do one without the other, and expect to be as productive as the man who commits himself to both. The disciples very well knew this, that’s why they chose to give themselves “continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the Word” (Acts 6:4). Communication is key to every relationship. Strive for it with God.

Keep winning daily.

Wise Action:
Make it a habit of accompanying prayer with the study of the Word. And always make out time for both everyday.
