Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11

In continuation of our preparation for battle, having covered vital parts of our body, we need: (1) The shield of faith. Scripture says “above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked” (Ephesians 6:16). This means that everything we’ve put on will amount to nothing if we don’t believe that they can work. Faith is our greatest weapon as Christians, because it is by faith we live (Romans 1:17).

(2) The helmet of salvation. Without Christ there is really no life. We need the helmet of salvation because Christ has won all battles, and fighting from His victory guarantees our victory. Scriptures says, “but thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57).

(3) The sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Scripture in Hebrews 4:12a says “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword…” When CHRIST was tempted by the devil, He used the word of God (Matthew 4:3-11).

After adorning the whole armour of God, we’re admonished in verse 18 to pray always “with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance”. That means we should watch and pray, so we won’t caught unaware when the devil come. Why do we need all of these when Christ has won everything for us? “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” (Ephesians 6:13). God wants you to stand always.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank You for Your wonderful love, and grace that abounds. Thank You for bringing me to You, and teaching me to withstand the devil. I’m sure of victory because I conquer through You, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
