Topic: The God Chasers [11/9/2016]

Text: Psalm 42:1-2

When we read stories about men who exhibited the dynamic manifestation of God’s power, we encounter one common theme; God Chasers. God is not satisfied giving us salvation only, so He has made available His power, through the Holy Ghost (Act 1:8), so that we can be proof bearers of His mightiness in the world. But, just like we don’t get all grown up when we were given birth to, so also we don’t start manifesting the fullness of God when we receive the Holy Spirit. ‘We grow into it.’

Growing in God is borne out of the intensity of our desires for more of God (2 Peter 2:2). As sons and daughters of God, our desires should be for more of God – to know Him more and to come to the full measure of the stature of Christ (Ephesians 4:12-13); because we have been preordained to be conformed into the image of God’s Son – Jesus (Romans 8:29). Out of his desire for God, King David said, “as the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?” (Psalm 42:1-2)

Let your heart pant for God. Don’t allow worldly pursuit quench your appetite for the full measure of God. Apostle Paul told us in  Colossians 3:2 to “set our affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” Be a God-chaser. Not a men-chaser. ‘If you chase after God, men will chase after you.’ Desire God with the whole of your heart. Open your life to Him so that He can fill you with His fullness.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, I set my affection on You. My desire is to know and love You more than ever and to be filled with Your fullness. I make a commitment to seek you with all my heart, knowing that I will find you, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
