Topic: Greater Works [1/8/2016]

Text: 1 John 4:4

The word “greater” is a comparative verb. There are great works but there are greater works. It is only those that have  greater capacities and capabilities that can produce greater works. When Jesus was telling us that we will do greater works than He did, He knew that we have the capacity and capability. He knew the potency of the Holy Ghost we have in us.

1 John 4:4 says “ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” This scripture first exposes us to our identity: “we are of God,” we are not of the world. Then, it exposes us to our capacities and capabilities – “greater is he that is in you”. Hallelujah! Because we are identified with God and have the greater one in us, we can only do greater things than the world can do. We are wired for only greater works when compared with what the world can do. We set the bar for them to play catch up.

Another truth that we can deduce from this is that we can only do greater than our previous works, there is no limit to how great our work can be. We can only do better than before, even when it is the greatest work around, we are still capable of doing greater than the greatest. The law of diminishing returns is alien to us. It can only get better when it comes to us. This is as a result of the Greater One in us. This is a present day reality that God wants us to enjoy. Key into it through the functionality of the Greater One in you.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:
Praise be God Who has endued me with the Greater One, Who works through me to produce greater works. The world standard pales at my works. I set the standard through the working of God’s Spirit in me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
