Topic: Hunger for Work [Friday, 2nd June 2017]

Appetite is an incentive to work; hunger makes you work all the harder.  Proverbs 16:26 MSG

If you’ve ever tried doing something that you had no passion for, you’d notice that you get tired easily and everything seems to slow down. Interest plays a very important role in the things we engage in. If you’re not remotely interested in a venture the possibility of embarking on it will be lower than the one you have an interest in, if they both have the same risks. Same goes for doing the Master’s business. If you have no interest in the Master or His work, There’ll be no appetite to do his bidding and spend your life doing His business.

The psalmist in Psalms 69:9 remarked: “for the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.” This goes a long way to explain why the psalmist always longed for God’s presence and His instructions (Psalms 63:1).

The disciples also noted the zeal for God in Christ in John 2:16-17 – “and said unto them that sold doves, take these things hence; make not my Father’s house a house of merchandise. And his disciples remembered that it was written, the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.” It was this zeal and hunger that kept Christ going for God.

Without the Hunger, you wouldn’t have any need to be filled. Without passion, no desire will need to be satisfied. Maybe you’re thinking of how you’d get the strength to do the work of God, it’s simple; the need to see the work done, and to please God would strengthen you. Revive your hunger and passion for God, and you’ll see yourself doing things you never imagined you could do.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Father, revive the hunger for You in my heart, that I may keep on chasing after You and Your business, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
