Topic: In Times Like This [4/10/2016]

Text: Romans 8:18

We live in an era where Christians are persecuted for their faith. We have heard of how many have been murdered in different parts of the world for being Christians and even dating to talk about Jesus. Many are persecuted grossly in very unimaginable ways. And because of this, some have been forced to deny and renounce Christ.

But then, Christ Jesus had forewarned us of this: “and ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake; but he that endureth to the end shall be saved” (Matthew 10:22). It is heartbreaking but true that sometimes, the ones who put us through the worst pains are the members of our own household. During the weekend, a man in Australia was arrested for killing his wife who just accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

But in times like this, what should be our attitude, what should our response be? When we are persecuted for the faith, should we turn our backs on faith to either preserve our lives or gain acceptance from the world? Should we abandon deny the One whom we have trusted?  No, never! “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations” (James 1:2).  So, let us joyful and hold fast the profession of our faith (Hebrews 10:23), being rooted and grounded in love and in faith (Ephesians 3:17).

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for Your strength which is made perfect in weakness during times of persecution. I prayed for the church, that we will all find solace in your strength and grace in these hour of persecution, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
