My prayer for you is that you will overflow more and more with love for others, and at the same time keep on growing in spiritual knowledge and insight. Philippians 1:9 TLB
The truth is, love is not just a lifestyle of the believer, it is the proof of His discipleship. There is no other way to show the world who we are than through the expression of love. It’s not by our successes, prosperity or the influence we have, but strictly by the expression of love to all. In a world where people evaluate our closeness to God by how much success we are able to garner, we must understand that God is more glorified in our expression of love.
Jesus said in John 13:35 TLB, “your strong love for each other will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” Just like God proved to us that He is God by showing us true love, He wants us to show the world that we are His disciples by showing strong love to one another. No wonder Apostle Paul prayed for us that we would overflow with love for others (Philippians 1:9). Even Apostle John said our love for others is the proof that we know God.
God has enabled us to express love to others by the Holy Spirit He has given us. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of love. He pours God’s love in abundance into our hearts (Romans 5:5). He is the Fountain of love, from where our love can overflow to others. When we spend time in communion with the Holy Spirit, we enjoy His loving presence, and this enables love to freely gosh out from us to others. Spend time with the Spirit of love, and let your love overflow.
