Topic: The Minister’s Ministry 2 [Tuesday, 4th July 2017.]

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry. 1 Timothy 1:12.

The minister, for all his importance, is not a representative of God to the flock he is overseeing. God communicates through the minister, not because he is his representative but because he is “a channel” of communication. He is not “the channel” or “only channel” of communication, but a channel of communication to God’s people. In 2 Chronicles 20, there were priest and prophets in Israel, who today we will term them as ministers, but God chose to speak through another channel, Jahaziel, who was only a levite. Note: not all levites are priest (Numbers 3-4).

Every one born of God is God’s representative here on earth, and is God’s channel to reach out to the world (2 Corinthians 5:18-20). But we must understand that the minister has been given a special ministry. Whether as an apostle, a prophet, an evangelist, a pastor or a teacher, “their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12-13 NLT).

This responsibility, which I must say is very enormous, is placed on the minister to equip the church through the ministration of God’s word and Spirit, so that the church, which they are part of, can function maximally, and be established in the doctrine of the Lord, where no other doctrine that is not of Christ, would tossed them off guard (Ephesians 4:14). Anyone in the body of Christ can be chosen by God to carry out these responsibilities, as His minister (1 Corinthians 12:11). We are all potential ministers of God.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help me, by the working of Your Spirit, to set myself up always to be the minister You have chosen me to be, to represent You to the best of the abilities You’ve graced me with, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
