But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6
God’s reaction to the unbelief of the generation of the Israelites that came out of Egypt was shutting them out of the rest – entering into the promise land – He had prepared for them. Unbelief doesn’t catch the fancy of God and shuts us out of the promises of God. But one thing is telling in the scripture above; the only way to please God is through faith in Him.
Most times, we do our best to be morally upright. We keep all of the moral codes found in the Bible all in our bid to be pleasing unto God. But, you see beloved, while this is a good thing, that is not what makes us pleasing to God. Hebrews 11:6 says, “but without faith it is impossible to please God…” Faith in God makes it possible to please Him, or to be pleasing to Him. Without it, we don’t even have the right to come to Him, cause “he that must come to Him must believe…” (Hebrews 11:6).
In Luke 18, there was a certain rich man who kept all the moral codes written in the laws of Moses, but He was not pleasing to God, he still lacked one thing. He needed to follow Jesus. Our faith in Jesus makes us followers of Jesus, thereby making us pleasing to God. While living a morally sound life is good, it is not what makes us pleasing to God. Our faith in Jesus is what makes us pleasing to God. Keep believing in Jesus, and remain pleasing to Him.

Dear Lord, thank You for the faith I have in You that qualifies me to be pleasing to You. With this same faith, I take delivery of all my inheritance in Christ. My faith is ever alive and I will forever be pleasing to You, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
