And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 1 John 2:3
Knowing the Lord is one of the nicest things to do. And when we hear people say they have come to know the Lord, it brings joy to our hearts. But you see, most people think that knowing the Lord starts and ends with accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. While this is a good start, there is still more to knowing God. Having the life of God is not knowing God. Just like you can have a car and not know the component parts and their functionalities, so it is with having the life of God, and not knowing God.
Our obedience to the commandment of the Lord is proof that we actually know Him. We can’t claim knowledge of God when we go contrary to His commandment. Just like Jesus said in John 15:14 “ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.” We can only prove that we are friends with Jesus if we keep His commandment, just like we have to do to prove our love for Him. There is no other way to prove that you love, know and you are a friend of the Lord.
What is His commandment? Jesus answered that in John 15:12 when He said “this is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.” That is His commandment. Show the proof of your knowledge of God, your friendship with God and your love for God by your display of love for others, both Christians and non-Christians. Show your proof.

Dear Lord, thank You for saving me. Thank You for Your love for me. Help me to show the proof of my love, knowledge and friendship with You by showing my love for people always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
