Text: 2 Corinthians 7:9-10

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. – 2 Corinthians 7:10

God require us to repent of all of our worldly attitudes when we receive His live. As we keep walking with Him, He expects us to drop and phase out our actions and attitude that are not in consonance with the life that He has given us. He called us His righteousness, and He expects us to reflect the righteousness He called us.

That is why He urged us in. Colossians 3:5 to “mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry.” To mortify means to kill, to put to death, to remove life. We must remove the life support of everything that is contrary to the life of God in us. We must put them to death by not feeding them with what they need to survive. Don’t give them opportunities to express themselves. Allow God’s life to find expression instead at all times.

Lay aside every weight and sin that so easily over come you (Hebrews 12:1). This scripture was not addressing unbelievers, but it was addressing believers, those that have received the life of God. We must repent, put to death, all things worldly as we walk with our Father to reflect His holiness and true righteousness that the gift of grace has bestowed on us. And this is the very reason we must cling to God’s Word.
Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, I thank You for Your life that I have received. A life that helps me to put to death all worldly affection. As I walk with You, I lay aside every weight and sin that so easily overcome me. I have dominion over sin, because Christ has won the victory, in Jesus name. Amen.
